April 28, 2003 - This weekend at the annual Wondercon in the San Francisco Bay Area, ILM showed up to unveil the new Hulk theatrical trailer. This trailer is different than the international one that you can find online as there are quite a few new shots in it and it gives a basic idea of the story. They ran the trailer twice – once before their presentation on how they created the CG Hulk, and once after.
It opens with a young Bruce in his room with his mother (?) talking about how he'll go off to school and become a famous scientist, as there was something special inside him.
Then there's text that's mixed in with clips that talks about how there's something inside him just waiting to be triggered or released.
In between that text we see Bruce and Betty preparing for a gamma ray experiment that goes wrong. Bruce pushes a scientist out of the lab, but he's trapped when the rays flood the room.
Then there are shots from the international trailer such as Bruce beginning to "Hulk out" in front of Betty in the house, a better show of the foot "Hulk out" as his shoe explodes, and then the trailer kicks into gear.
It all goes pretty fast, but here's the NEW stuff that wasn't in any of the other trailers:
Bruce's father talking about how he experimented on Bruce when he was a baby and some shots showing that.
A few Hulk Dog shots, and frankly they look pretty stupid. These scenes kick off with Bruce's father telling him over the phone that he's sending a special surprise. There's the shot of the dog on the tree snarling at the Hulk and another where they are attacking a car with Betty inside.
Lots of Hulk jumping! There's even a shot of him flying through the air, high above the desert. This is most likely in the middle of one of the three-mile jumps.
An awesome shot of the Hulk running at full speed down a desert mountainside while swatting away missiles that three attack helicopters are firing at him. There are also several more shots of the Hulk vs. helicopters toward the end of the trailer, such as him being cornered on top of a mountain and surrounded.
A few shots from the San Francisco scene, including one where Hulk is about to toss something at a chopper, but stops when he sees Betty inside.
And yes, there's a shot where someone in his house is attacking Bruce and he says "You're making me angry. I don't think you'll like me when I'm angry." Very cool.
The final shot in the trailer is Hulk smashing the ground in San Francisco, which causes cars to roll down a hill.
Thanks to Jordan for the heads up and pointing us to this article! This all sounds great, and I for one like the gamma dogs. All we need now is a great big Gamma Clap, which they are hopefully holding back until the release of the film. We can all watch the Hulk in all his cinematic goodness this Friday when X2 opens.
