Promotions for The Hulk movie will kick into gear this weekend, particularly with a campaign involving the National Basketball Association playoffs.
The campaign, which starts on Sunday, involves a series of ads that will run on TNT, ESPN, ABC and other NBA and WNBA programming. They will promote both The Hulk and the NBA playoffs.
TNT will create and air several versions of the commercial for the Eastern Conference semifinals and the Western Conference semifinals and finals. ESPN and ABC will produce and air spots starting on May 31.
"The NBA continues to be at the forefront of popular culture reaching an attractive audience that mirrors The Hulk's largest demographic," said Anthy Evergates-Price, Universe Pictures senior vice-president media. "The combination of one of the premiere sporting events with one of the biggest theatrical events, delivers an impactful message that perfectly promotes the power and excitement of both properties."
"The high-energy, high-reach environment of the NBA playoffs on TNT attracts the young and hard-to-reach movie-going audience and, with a successful track record which includes helping to open other Universal hit movies like The Mummy, Scorpion King and U571, we're looking forward to seeing The Hulk slam dunk at the box office," said Chris Earnes, Turner Sports senior-vice president, sports and entertainment sponsorship sales and marketing.
"We're thrilled to be a part of Universal Studio's marketing strategy for The Hulk," said Ed Erhardt, president, ESPN ABC sports customer marketing and sales. "The impact of ESPN and ABC Sports NBA playoff and Finals programming we offer directly reaches their target audience, which makes this relationship an important fit to reach fans in a huge way."
"The Hulk will certainly be one of the event movies of the summer and it will be showcased to millions of NBA fans during the most exciting time of our season," said Heidi Ueberroth, NBA Entertainment executive vice president.
