Marvel’s gamma-soaked gargantuan smashes his way into theaters this summer under the guidance of director Ang Lee and producer Gale Anne Hurd

Now don’t get angry, Hulk fans (after all, we wouldn’t like you when you’re angry), but you won’t actually get to hear the Green Goliath say “Hulk smash!” or “Hulk is strongest one there is!” when the new Universal feature film, THE HULK, debuts in local cineplexes this summer. Aside from a few grunts and roars, the character will remain speechless throughout the entire feature. However, that shouldn’t stop you from checking out what is sure to be another grand-slam in the seemingly never-ending parade of Marvel comic book-based blockbusters swinging and punching their way into theaters all year long. Fans have already had a taste of the new HULK in a trailer that aired during the Superbowl and in theaters with DAREDEVIL, and according to producer Gale Anne Hurd, they liked what they saw.
“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Hurd. “People have embraced the fact that the Hulk looks realistic, yet he’s inspired by the comic books and he’s really capable of performing.”
In the new film, the Hulk – a manifestation of the inner rage within scientist Bruce Banner, whose exposure to gamma radiation results in a physical transformation into the beast whenever he is angry – will appear à la THE LORD OF THE RINGS‘ Gollum, as a wholly CGI creation informed by the performance of actor Eric Bana as Banner, a host of ILM animators, and director Ang Lee. For Lee, assuring that the Hulk would not just lumber through a shot but would actually turn in a performance was key to his involvement in the project.
