James Schamus creates Ang Lee's Hulk: The Power of a Dynamic Collaboration

"I don't know what I'm becoming, but I know one thing for sure ... you wouldn't like me when I'm angry!" June 20, 2003, Marvel Comics' muscular, green superhero The Hulk, hits the U.S. silver screens in a big-budget adaptation by screenwriter James Schamus.

We sat down with James Schamus to talk about the mammoth undertaking of creating a superhero that was to become Director Ang Lee's The Hulk.

Schamus' ongoing collaboration with Lee started in smaller independent films and reached a recent high point with the incredible Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Their adaptation of the classic Marvel Comics series combines all the elements of a blockbuster visual effects-intensive superhero movie with the brooding romance and tragedy of Universal's classic horror films.

The Hulk stars Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down), a rising Australian star, as Dr. Banner, while Academy Award® winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) plays his love interest Betty Ross, Nick Nolte plays Bruce's father, and my all-time favorite Sam Elliott plays Betty's father, the tough-as-nails General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross.
