Ultimate Hulk vs Wolverine Writer Revealed

In one of the quickest “now you see it, now you don’t” yet, followed by a couple “these aren’t the droids you’re looking for” (ahhh, geeky references), it appears that the writer of Marvel’s upcoming Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine will be Lost co-creator and writer, Damon Lindelof.

The news, which was originally supposed to be revealed in a mainstream outlet (reportedly USA Today, as early as this Friday) popped up in a quick blurb on wizarduniverse.com, which was taken down shortly after 3:00pm. Threads about Lindelof writing the miniseries which sprung up on Millarworld and the Bendis Board were deleted quickly.

If true, and given Lost’s comics connections, Lindelof would meet the criteria reported on by Newsarama for the then-unnamed writer, being that they would be coming from outside of comics, and would make sense to be announced in the mainstream press rather than in industry news outlets. Likewise, given Lost's serial, episodic storytelling that has kept viewers returning week after week, one could argue that Lindelof has already shown he has what it takes to tackle comic storytelling in a serial, episodic format. For a peek inside the writer's brain, check out this interview with Lindelof at the Writer's Guild website.

As for Lost’s comics cred, Paul (Batman, The Animated Series, Mad Love, Harley & Ivy) Dini has written an episode of the series, while another writer from the show, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, has already made his comics debut with The Middleman from Viper Comics earlier this year.

Marvel declined to comment on this story when asked.
