Hulk producer Avi Arad recently told the L.A. Times that the film's acclaimed director, Ang Lee, "loved the idea" of working on a special effects-heavy film because he responded so strongly to the "metaphorical anger and rage" that The Hulk represents. "Usually a director like Lee, an intellectual, reacts to a story he can tell," said Arad, so "audiences should think of The Hulk as 'an art film with amazing action and a big budget.'"
